Author: Veronica Roth

Title: Divergent

Everywhere I turned there was someone raving about this novel. You would think that it was just becoming overly hyped b/c it was being made in another blockbuster movie. So I decided to see what the fuss was about and read it.

I was drawn in from the very beginning. I could not put the book down and ended up reading it in two days. The plot was not predictable and incredibly thrilling. I loved every aspect of the main character Tris. This heroine was relatable and such a strong individual.

I have yet to have see the film, but I hope it lives up to the novel!

I would definitely recommend this novel and give it a 9/10.

Title: Gimme Shelter

I had watched this film and was blown away by Apple's story. She never really had a permanent home and was contantly abused by her drug addict mother. She ranaway to find her father and discovered that she was pregnant. Her own father turned her away and she was on her own again. Until finally a stranger offered a helping hand to get back on her feet.

I was able to relate to Apple on an emotional level. Of course I have never been 16 and pregnant, but I have felt alone, wanting to be somewhere where I was accepted, and to finally feel at home.

I would definitely recommend this film and give it a 7/10.
